U.S. Highway 82, U.S. Highway 61 and the Great River Road (Mississippi Highway 1) are the main transportation arteries through the Greenville area. U.S. Highway 82 is a major part of the Mississippi Delta’s transportation network, and is designated as part of the National Highway System. It connects the Mississippi Delta to Interstate 55 and other four-lane highways like U.S. Highway 61 and U.S. Highway 65 in Arkansas. Construction is under way with a new four-lane bridge (plus 2 access) across the Mississippi River as part of U.S. Highway 82. This is a $206 million, that once completed, will boast a 1,378-foot center-span, the longest cable-stayed span on the Mississippi River. The proposed Highway 82 Bypass and the Interstate 69 connector will provide Greenville with a four-lane interstate-quality east loop around Greenville.

Greenville is also the hub of water transportation for northwest Mississippi with its slack water harbor that connects directly with the Mississippi River. Located directly on the River at mile marker 537 of the lower Mississippi is the Greenville Port Terminal. The primary operation of the terminal is to transload bulk, break-bulk and project cargo to and from truck, rail, and barge. 200,000 to 250,000 tons of products are moved through the terminal each year.

The Columbus and Greenville Railway, a railroad common carrier whose principal service is transporting bulk freight, serves Greenville and Washington County. The C & G railway is a shoreline that runs east to west across the entire State of Mississippi.

The Mid-Delta Regional Airport, located 3 miles north of Greenville, is the only commercial airport within a 100-mile radius. It is also the only airport serving the Mississippi Delta. MDRA provides commuter service to Memphis via Mesaba Airlines with two daily arrivals and departures. For further information, please visit the website www.greenville.ms.us/Airport
